Early Childhood Intervention
The Texas Interagency Council on Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a
statewide program for families with children, ages birth to three, with
disabilities and developmental delays. ECI supports families to help their
children reach their potential through developmental services. Services are
provided by a variety of local agencies and organizations across Texas.

Provides area schools and programs with professional personnel. Available
services include assessment services, counseling, psychological services,
in-home training, art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, physical
therapy, and speech/language therapy, among others. Children 0 -22 years of
age, with development or with disabilities that are emotional, physical, and/or
mental, may need special education or related services. Students in both
regular and special education programming may receive services from HCDE
professionals.

The Harris County Hospital District (HCHD) is the fourth largest public
metropolitan hospital system in the United States, with nearly 50, 000 annual
admissions, more than 728,000 annual outpatient visits, approximately 11,000
births a year, and more than 186,000 annual emergency room visits.
HCHD offers specialized health care services ranging from infant and childhood
immunizations, through maternity and adult care, to rehabilitation and
geriatric services. The Hospital District does not offer transplant services or
full range dialysis, and has limitations on selected medical specialties.

without mental retardation), he or she qualifies under their mental retardation
division for case management and transition services if needed. Further, this
state agency oversees several of the Texas Waiver programs that can provide
financial assistance for your child’s long-term health and housing needs.
